Shared Kids Room Updates 2018
A Few Changes in Our Kids’ Shared Room I shared several months ago that we were going to make a few changes to Mary Helen’s nursery to make it more dude-friendly for Gus since he now resides in there as well. Between updating our bathroom and dining room at the same time, I just now got around to completing those changes.

Small Dining Room Updates 2018
Quick, Updated Tour of Our Dining Room Ever since I added trim around our cased openings and board and batten in our dining room, the walls in there have been blank. I was just at a lost as to what to put in there that all worked together. So a little over a month ago, I posted on my Instagram stories asking for some help decorating my dining room. (You can still check them out in my highlights.) And boy did y’all have some great suggestions!

Master Bathroom with Hotel Style
How To Add Style to a Bathroom With Paint And Ingenuity You don’t need an entire remodel or a construction company to make your master bathroom feel fresh, new, or like you walked into a high-end hotel. We recently featured this bathroom facelift on an episode of Today’s Homeowner. The homeowners, Ryan and Chloe, lived with a concrete subfloor for over a year after their son flooded and ruined the carpet. They just didn’t know where to start! Replace Flooring While we could have put down tile on the concrete to match the existing nearby tile, they were really looking for something new and different. So we started by removing the…

Shared Toddler Room Mood Board
How I’m Turning Our Nursery Into A Boy/Girl Room If you follow my Instagram stories, then you may have seen back in May we started moving our little guy, Gus, into his sister’s room. They were pretty much sleeping on the same schedule and Grandma from Indiana was coming to visit. Plus with a few trips coming up this year where we’d all be sharing a room, I thought it was a good impetus to have them share a room full-time. And we’d have an official guest room again! Unfortunately for Gus the room was very pink. Here’s what is looked like when I finished it up back in 2015 before…

Budget Living Room Makeover Ideas
4 Ways to Update Your Living Room on a Budget One of my most favorite things about updating my home or any house is that often the simplest or least-expensive things can make the biggest difference in the look and feel of the space. And that rings true in the case of this living and dining room Dad and I updated on a recent episode of Today’s Homeowner, which you can watch online now. Here’s what the living room looked like before: And here’s the dining room: We basically did 4 things that you can do to update just about any room in your house-living room, dining room, bedroom, or…

Rental House Project Ideas
Projects You Can Do in a Rental House and Take with You When You Move A few months back, my dad and I traveled to my sister’s house in Birmingham, Alabama to tape an episode of Today’s Homeowner. (You can watch the full episode here.) She and her college roomies live in a rental house that was built in what appears to be the 1960s or 70s. Although it looks very dated, it’s all in really great shape. Unfortunately some of the things about the dated appearance just can’t be changed when you’re renting. But I’m not here today to discuss things you can’t change! I’ve got 4 projects you…

How I Reused an Old Wood Window
Repurposing a Window and Planter Box Looking for an inexpensive way to add some character to the outside of your home or garage? That’s exactly what I did with an old wood window and leftover planter box. Find the Right Trash The best part about this project? 100% free! I already had this hand-me-down metal wall hanging on the outside of my garage that faces our backyard. But I was ready to change things up. You may remember an earlier rendition of my dining room had this old wooden window hanging in it. It was removed from one of my dad’s construction company‘s jobs several years ago. And one man’s trash…

Gallery Wall Display for Boy Nursery
Just popping in to share the gallery wall I put together for baby Gus’s room! I’ve been collecting white frames for a while now with the idea of doing a larger gallery wall somewhere in one of our living areas. But it doesn’t look like that’s ever going to transpire, so I decided to use some of them for baby boy’s nursery. I did a similar gallery wall for Mary Helen’s room before she was born with sentimental mementos. And this one is no different.

DIY Stained Wood Shelves
CANNOT believe it has been 4 weeks since we welcomed our sweet boy into the world! Fortunately for me, he eats and then falls right back to sleep. So I was able to knock out these shelves for his room that I didn’t quite get around to completing before he made his grand entrance. I wanted something a little more manly than the crisp white ledges I made for Mary Helen’s room. And in my mind, gray wood tones=manly. Before I cut and made the shelves, I ordered IKEA’s EKBY BJARNUM shelf brackets to hold them up. (Since the closest IKEA is 5 hours away, I ordered mine from Amazon.)…
