Great White Whale

March 18, 2016 By Chelsea Lipford Wolf 1 Comment

And by whale, I mean wall(s) because Brandon and I painted our living room! When I painted the accent wall in the living room, it was always my intention to paint the remaining 3 walls to coordinate. But it was such a large task (it’s the biggest room in our house) that I put it off. But we finally dove in a few weeks ago.

Unfortunately, I’m not too keen on it. But I’m OK with it enough to keep the color and warm up the room with colorful accents on the walls and horizontal surfaces (mantel, tables, mirrored chest, etc).

Window Wall After Painting

I’ve seen this color (Simply White by Benjamin Moore) in magazines and other websites and it looked great! But seeing it in my space, it just looks so blue! And blue is not warm and cozy which is what I want my home to be!

I’m hoping part of it is the lack of wall decorations.

Blank Wall Above Mirrored Chest

We filled all of the nail holes before we painted so we could start fresh and rearrange things. It had been “transitional” decor anyway since this room has been evolving over the past year and a half or so.

Anytime I see a neat knick knack at a thrift store or yard sale, I always snatch it up for potential home decor. So I now have a hoard of things to use in here!

And good thing since blank, white walls are enough to drive a new momma insane!

Empty Wall Above Desk

First order of business is a large piece of art above the couch. Something that will make a statement since it’s the first thing you see when you walk in the front door.

Sitting Area in Living Room

I love white, but I think I may have overdone it in this room! The irony is that every room in this house had white walls when I bought the place. And part of me wanted to keep them that way, but I thought it was “too bold”. And I wasn’t cool enough to pull it off. Who’s laughing now? Not me!

I’ll be sure to keep you posted once we’ve got some more decor going on in here!

I think for over the desk, some black scrolly hangings. Maybe a clock in the middle. Black accents would look great on white.

I miss you on with your Dad and think this show is a great idea!
