Does Homax Porcelain Chip Fix Work?

    August 9, 2018 /

My Review of Homax’s Porcelain Chip Fix in a Sink In short, it didn’t work for me the first time. But I always like to give the benefit of the doubt, so I applied it a second time a few weeks later. (Results are pending for my second trial run. This review reflects the initial application.) Maybe I did it wrong? Or possibly I cleaned it too aggressively after it cured? I don’t know but here’s how it all went down.

    Master Bathroom with Hotel Style

    August 6, 2018 /

How To Add Style to a Bathroom With Paint And Ingenuity You don’t need an entire remodel or a construction company to make your master bathroom feel fresh, new, or like you walked into a high-end hotel. We recently featured this bathroom facelift on an episode of Today’s Homeowner. The homeowners, Ryan and Chloe, lived with a concrete subfloor for over a year after their son flooded and ruined the carpet. They just didn’t know where to start! Replace Flooring While we could have put down tile on the concrete to match the existing nearby tile, they were really looking for something new and different. So we started by removing the…

    “Treeing-Up” Bushes

    July 27, 2018 /

A fun, and easy, way to prune bushes  I’ve always referred to the process of pruning a bush to look like a tree as “treeing it up”. But upon searching that term on the interwebs, I apparently made that up. The most-returned result referenced a dog driving a raccoon or other animal up into a tree. So pretty close! 🙂 We had this overgrown Loropetalum bushy tree in the front yard. It was like bedhead-crazy with limbs sticking out in all directions. After Brandon attacked it with our hedge trimmers, it looked like this:

Easy, Fast, and Cheap Extension Cord Repair

    July 17, 2018 /

How to Repair an Extension Cord Yourself It costs less than $4 to repair an extension cord if it’s accidentally cut during use! And it doesn’t require any special tools or skills. Replacement part If the damage on your cord is nearest the female end, like mine, the part is readily available in the electrical aisle. The one I got was $3.29. (The male end replacement part is even cheaper!) Prepare Cord Obviously, make sure the cord isn’t plugged in first. Then cut through the cord right past the damaged area.

Cute Labels to Organize Your Pantry You know the saying, “the cobbler’s children have no shoes”? Yeah, that’s definitely the case at my house sometimes. Which is why I’m showing you pictures of someone else’s pantry today and not my own.? Dad and I recently worked with Laney and Chris for an episode of Today’s Homeowner. They desperately needed help in updating the look AND function of their laundry room which also serves as their pantry. Here’s their pantry shelf before?:

How I’m Turning Our Nursery Into A Boy/Girl Room If you follow my Instagram stories, then you may have seen back in May we started moving our little guy, Gus, into his sister’s room. They were pretty much sleeping on the same schedule and Grandma from Indiana was coming to visit. Plus with a few trips coming up this year where we’d all be sharing a room, I thought it was a good impetus to have them share a room full-time. And we’d have an official guest room again! Unfortunately for Gus the room was very pink. Here’s what is looked like when I finished it up back in 2015 before…

    Creating Zones for Garage Storage

    May 31, 2018 /

How to Create Zones for an Organized Garage It’s really starting to feel like summer in Alabama! And summer means yard work, kids home from school, and maybe pool gear all over the place! So I thought it was the perfect time to share some tips from a recent episode of Today’s Homeowner about organizing your garage! Set Priorities As with any organization project, it is essential to take inventory of what you have and what your needs are as far as storage goes. What do you use most often? It needs to be easily accessible at all times. What is stored for seasonal use, i.e. Christmas or summer camping?…

Obsessed. with these planters! I mean just look at how cute and modern they are! They really play off of the macrame trend that’s seeing a resurgence lately. But they are made of traditional kiln-fired ceramic, so you know they’re going to last for many Mother’s Days to come. What’s great about these for a Mother’s Day gift is they don’t come with a hole pre-drilled. So Mom can hang them inside, maybe in the…
