Closet for Dress-Up Clothes
DIY Dresser Makeover to Store Dress-Up Clothes I’ve been doing a lot of taping with Today’s Homeowner lately before I go on maternity leave (in just a few short weeks!). So not many projects have gotten done around my house. BUT I was able to help a friend update/makeover/upcycle, her grandmother’s old chest of drawers into a fun and cute ‘closet’ of sorts for her daughters’ princess dresses! Before Here’s the modest dresser before:

DIY Wall Sconce Installation
How to Install a Light Fixture without Wiring I mentioned in my last post on our kids’ room update, that I’d be back with a how-to post on installing their sweet wall sconces above their beds. The steps I took are specific to the fixture we used, but maybe a step in the process will work for you and inspire your creative side!

Shared Kids Room Updates 2018
A Few Changes in Our Kids’ Shared Room I shared several months ago that we were going to make a few changes to Mary Helen’s nursery to make it more dude-friendly for Gus since he now resides in there as well. Between updating our bathroom and dining room at the same time, I just now got around to completing those changes.

Shared Toddler Room Mood Board
How I’m Turning Our Nursery Into A Boy/Girl Room If you follow my Instagram stories, then you may have seen back in May we started moving our little guy, Gus, into his sister’s room. They were pretty much sleeping on the same schedule and Grandma from Indiana was coming to visit. Plus with a few trips coming up this year where we’d all be sharing a room, I thought it was a good impetus to have them share a room full-time. And we’d have an official guest room again! Unfortunately for Gus the room was very pink. Here’s what is looked like when I finished it up back in 2015 before…

(Play) Kitchen Remodel
When you find a perfectly good play kitchen on the side of the road, you can’t not pick it up! Am I right? My mom spotted it while walking in her neighborhood and called me up. I was there 15 minutes later loading it in my trunk! (With some assistance from its previous owner.) And this isn’t my first time picking up treasures off the side of the road! Check out my bar cart upcycle here. Once I got it home and unloaded, I realized it was actually missing a lot more than I had originally thought. Only 1 of 4 doors was still in place. It seems this little…

DIY End Table with Shoe Rack
Free Plans for DIY Shoe Rack Table I’ve mentioned before my desire to be a shoe-free home. And now that Mary Helen is getting closer to crawling every day, it’s even more important to me to significantly reduce the amount of dirt and grime brought onto our floors. I made a wine cork shoe tray for the living room a few months ago. But I needed something else for the back door. The end table and floor lamp there keep me from just setting a similar tray on the floor. So I decided to build a new end table for the space that also includes a shelf for shoes.

How to Create an Easy Cross on Canvas
DIY Shimmery, Gold Cross on Canvas that Pops! When I was putting together items to hang as part of the nursery gallery wall, I picked up some small 4×6 canvases with an idea to create my own art with some paint and gold leaf. It ended up being a super easy and quick project with pretty results! Materials gold leaf paper 5×7 canvas acrylic paint white glue* foam brush* The most expensive part of the project was of course the gold leaf paper, but I didn’t use all 25 sheets. So part of the cost of it can roll over into whatever future project I end up using it on.
