    Framed with Pink and Gold

    September 7, 2015 /

I’ve mentioned a few times in various posts my desire to hang a gallery wall somewhere in my home. I just never found the right spot to do so. (Even though I’ve been collecting frames and mementos to be a part of it for over a year now…) Well, with things falling into place for the nursery, the perfect opportunity presented itself! I give you this blank wall.

**This giveaway has ended. Scroll down to see the winner and click over to my giveaway tab to see my current giveaway! Even though summer is coming to a close (despite the high temperatures in Mobile!), it’s always a good time to have a great set of speakers to listen to your tunes! I have a smaller version of these same Acoustic Research portable wireless speakers that I’ve used on various occasions in various ways. They can be plugged into an outlet or run off of batteries. And to connect it to your music, you can do that wirelessly too through Bluetooth technology or use the auxiliary cable that comes…

Easy Tricks to Turn Sheets into Drapes

    August 26, 2015 /

Back when I painted the walls in the nursery white-ish, I knew I was going to pull in a lot of pink accents through bedding, curtains, and pictures. But first I had to figure out which shade of pink! And that’s when I was at IKEA in Atlanta and found this for $10…(insert hearts for eyes emoji here) So from there my search for the perfect curtains to match commenced. I searched high and low, near and far, but could only find one curtain that fit the bill. And it was SOLD OUT! (It was from Target’s Simply Shabby Chic line for those interested.) Since I have minor sewing skills,…

    Fancy Window Woodwork

    August 19, 2015 /

When you think of necessities for a newborn, window trim in the nursery doesn’t really come to mind, does it? But I just couldn’t help myself! In my defense, it’s part of my overall to-do list for our house, adding trim to the windows one room at a time. And I had this in mind when I was painting the room, adding gold to the ceiling, and when we hung crown molding. All that’s to say, I left green paint showing where the trim would cover it, I dripped gold paint on one of the stools and didn’t bother to clean it up, and we did some test shots with…

    Poofy Pom Pom Ceiling Mobile

Things are moving slowly, but surely in the nursery. Good thing since Baby Girl is expected to arrive in less than 8 weeks! Eek! My awesome parents bought us a beautiful crib and comfy glider which completed the major furniture needed in the nursery after I spruced up my old dresser. So now I’m starting to fill in the walls with pretty, shiny, girlie things! We positioned the crib in the corner opposite the door. It seems to work best for the particular configuration of doors and windows we have in this small room. But it leaves a big chunk of floor space empty behind it. And in order to…

Quick Dresser Updates on a Budget

    August 6, 2015 /

Like a lot of people nowadays, Brandon and I decided to forego the standard nursery changing table. Instead, we’re using a dresser with a changing pad on top. Then we’ll be able to use the dresser for storage and clothes as our first born ages and outgrows the nursery. And even better…we got the dresser for free! It’s actually the dresser my parents bought as part of an entire bedroom suit for me when they were expecting their second child. So I guess you could say it’s an antique. 🙂 But I can’t just leave it as is! I wanted to change it up subtly, without involving the usual paint…
