It hasn’t been too long since I hung up my moss-covered house numbers on the front porch.
Unfortunately, it was plenty of time (9 months to be exact) for the sun to wreck havoc on them and fade the mossy green color.
It just made them blend in with my siding which is the opposite of their purpose…So it was time for a little update.
I had some red spray paint on hand and thought it would pop nicely against the tan and brownness of my house. BIG mistake. I didn’t even take a picture it was so yucky.
Then I tried to spray this lovely teal shade on them. But with all of the nooks and crannies of the moss, I couldn’t get enough coverage. So I cracked open a can of white paint, dipped the numbers in it, and let them dry, giving me a blank slate for my spray paint.
Once the white was dry, I quickly sprayed them with a few coats of Krylon’s Catalina Mist (aka new favorite spray paint color!) and let that dry. They hung right back up and that was that.
It actually worked out perfectly since the teal color of the numbers picks up the teal color in our porch pillows.
Just a quick, little freshening up for Spring! I hear it’s just around the corner…I’ll believe it when it’s not in the 40s at night! (I know that’s not cold compared to the temps in the northeast, but I’m a Southern gal and 40 is cold to me!)
Thanks for Checking In! ~Chelsea

The white paint definitely was the way to go. The sun can really fade items out in it.
